Cloak

Following the bombing in Boston bombing last year, I wrote this poem out of respect for both the victims and their families. I'm posting it here, because I think it has a very positive message for humanity.

What is it that fuels violence?
Are we fighting for dominance?
...Or fighting out of fear?
If the people scream... is anyone willing to hear?
If we are the masters of this chain
If we unshackle the bounds of our brain
If we can claim that we’re still sane... what would we gain?
I wonder about the singers of this aria of entropy
I wonder if they’ve ever dreamt of being free
Maybe we are free
Maybe this nightmare is not what it seems to be
Maybe the only one afraid is me...
Or maybe we’re still asleep
In so deep, that we can’t accept the reality
That joy in this world is a rarity...
Well as a dreamer, I refuse to believe
That our hearts will ever not be able to achieve
That we dreamers cannot unseam
The threads of hate that hide our gleam
